Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults

Aim: Participants will gain knowledge and awareness of best practice in relation to the welfare of vulnerable adults in Ireland, including an overview of key legislation and national policies and a review of case studies to better understand how to safeguard vulnerable adults from harm.
Who is this course for? Healthcare professionals working closely with vulnerable adults.
Certification: 2 year validation.
- Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse, National Policy & Procedures -Incorporating Services for Elder Abuse and for Persons with a Disability, HSE (2014).
- National Standards for Residential Services (Adults) with Disabilities, HIQA (2013).
- Trust In Care 2005.
- Case studies.
- To provide an overview of key legislation and national polices in safeguarding vulnerable adults in Ireland.
- To increase awareness of best practices regarding the promotion of welfare of adults and safeguarding them from abuse.
Method of Delivery: Online; participants complete the course through their PC or laptop at specific times.
