Aim: This course will equip participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively respond when a person displays challenging, aggressive or violent behaviour. It will also prepare participants to disengage safely from any situation that poses a risk to themselves, a service user or others.
Certification: 1 year validation;
Method of Delivery: Delivery online on Zoom (Day 1) & Classroom Practical (Day 2)
Duration: 13 hours.
Assessment: Assessed throughout the training and at the practical stage of the course. Questionnaire based on the CPI booklet.
Course Topics:
- Identify behaviour that indicates an escalation towards aggressive and violent behaviour, and take appropriate measures to avoid, decelerate and/or de-escalate crisis situations.
- Assess the level of risk associated with crisis behaviour, and make appropriate decisions related to the management of such risks.
- Use suitable and acceptable physical interventions to reduce or manage risk behaviour.
- Identify the impact of crisis events, and describe post-crisis responses which can be used for personal and organisational support and learning.
