Aim: Participants will gain knowledge and awareness of best practice in relation to the welfare of vulnerable adults in Ireland, including an overview of key legislation and national policies and a review of case studies to better understand how to safeguard vulnerable adults from harm.

Course Topics:

  • Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse, National Policy & Procedures -Incorporating Services for Elder Abuse and for Persons with a Disability, HSE (2014).
  • National Standards for Residential Services (Adults) with Disabilities, HIQA (2013).
  • Trust In Care 2005.
  • Case studies.

Course Objectives:

  • To provide an overview of key legislation and national polices in safeguarding vulnerable adults in Ireland.
  • To increase awareness of best practices regarding the promotion of welfare of adults and safeguarding them from abuse.

Duration: 1 hour. Once registered participants can access the training up to 60 days

Assessment: Questionnaire - 80% pass rate
